Fragrance Tips

What Perfume Does Florence Pugh Wear?

Florence Pugh dresses like someone who has never been talked out of a bold choice: sheer gowns, shocking pinks, and lately a camel coat worn like armour. The answer to what perfume does Florence Pugh wear is, first and loudest, Max Mara Le Parfum, the house’s debut fragrance, which she fronts as its paid campaign face; outside that contract, the one bottle she has been reported spritzing on camera is a travel-size Chanel Coco, alongside a home-blended spray made by her mum.

That is a short list, and we would rather say so than pad it. What makes Pugh interesting to a fragrance shopper is less the number of bottles than the way she talks about scent: as something she builds a character with, something that tells her who she is on a given day. So after laying out the documented evidence, this guide borrows her method and plans a full week of wearing, Monday to Sunday, using her bottles where the record supports them and clearly labelled similar-vibe picks where it does not. Every attribution below has a source, and every source is rated for how solid it is.

The bottles with her name on them

Four strands of evidence turn up when you research what perfume Florence Pugh wears. They are not equal, so each one opens with its evidence level before anything else.

Max Mara Le Parfum (2026)

Evidence level: confirmed, but paid. Pugh is the face of the campaign, so treat her praise as part of a commercial partnership, not an unprompted shopping tip. Trade title Cosmetics Business reported on 30 June 2026 that Max Mara had signed her for its first fragrance, made with Shiseido under a licence agreed in July 2024. Shiseido’s own release confirms the rollout: select retailers in North America and Europe from 24 August 2026, then more than 50 markets from 1 September, with China, Japan and Latin America following in 2027.

The scent itself is an eau de parfum by Fabrice Pellegrin and Marie Salamagne of DSM-Firmenich. It is built on sandalwood and cedarwood, wrapped in tuberose absolute and warmed by vanilla and benzoin, with an Italian lemon note in the opening. The bottle copies the brand’s 101801 camel coat, down to the belt and button. Speaking to Who What Wear, Pugh said it “actually smells like cashmere”, and she described wearing it on set, on tour and at home as part of her identity. Marie Claire’s October 2026 feature went further: asked for her date-night scent, she named the Max Mara eau de parfum. Again, she is paid to promote it. But it is also the only bottle she has talked about in detail, and it fits everything else we know about her taste: warm, skin-close, more texture than sugar. For context on the main notes, see our guides to tuberose perfumes that wear creamy rather than loud and what a “cashmere” scent actually smells like.

Chanel Coco (the “travel Coco”)

Evidence level: reported, second-hand. According to Women.com’s write-up of Pugh’s February 2024 British Vogue “In the Bag” video, she misted herself with a small Chanel spray and called it “my little travel Coco.” We could not watch the original video, so this rests on that report. One caveat matters for buyers: Chanel sells purse sprays of both Coco and Coco Mademoiselle, and the report says only “Coco”. It is most likely the 1984 original, but we cannot rule out the other.

If it is the original, it is a very different animal from Le Parfum. Coco eau de parfum, created by Jacques Polge in 1984, is an amber floral: mandarin at the top, then jasmine, ylang-ylang and orange blossom over patchouli, tonka and benzoin, with plenty of spice. It is rich, warm and quite vintage in feel, and community ratings on Parfumo put its longevity and sillage near the top of the scale. Benzoin is the thread linking Coco to Le Parfum, which tells you something about where her nose settles. Our round-up of the best Chanel perfumes puts Coco in context next to its siblings.

Her mum’s homemade “focus” spray

Evidence level: reported, second-hand. In the same Vogue video, per Women.com, Pugh showed a spray her mother had blended, named with a cheerful expletive about focusing. She listed roughly eight ingredients, including citrus and herbs, some from her mum’s garden. It is not for sale, and nobody has published the recipe, so we will not pretend to know what is in it beyond “citrus and herbs”. It matters because it shows a second side to her taste: bright, green and practical, worn for a purpose rather than for show.

Valentino: a fashion and makeup role, not a fragrance one

Evidence level: confirmed ambassadorship; no fragrance link found. A lot of people assume her Valentino role covers perfume. Here is what we could verify. Fashionista reported in April 2023 that she had become a Valentino ambassador, fronting a Rockstud handbag campaign shot by Steven Meisel. In May 2023 she was also named a Valentino Beauty ambassador, and the coverage we found showed makeup, such as Liquirosso lip-and-cheek colour. We found no campaign in which she fronts Born in Roma, Voce Viva or any other Valentino fragrance, and we could not confirm whether either role is still active in late 2026. So Valentino perfume does not appear on her list here.

The character-scent habit

Evidence level: confirmed in her own words (as reported). Around the Max Mara launch she told Elle UK, and later Who What Wear, that she picks a perfume for each role and puts it on last, after the costume, calling it “the final piece that builds that person for me.” For Amy March in Little Women, her mother made a bespoke blend inspired by scents of the period. No commercial bottles were named for any role, so this is a method, not a shopping list. It is also the idea behind the week below.

Seven days, seven scents

Pugh treats perfume like costume: you pick it for who you need to be that day. Here is a week planned the same way. Days built around her own bottles say so; the rest are similar-vibe picks we have chosen to echo her taste, and they are labelled as ours, not hers.

Monday: back at the desk

Scent: Max Mara Le Parfum (her campaign scent). Monday is about being taken seriously without announcing yourself, and that is exactly what a woody skin scent does well. Le Parfum’s structure suits a shared office. The lemon at the top is brief and clean, so the first ten minutes on the train do not fill the carriage. Then the cedar and sandalwood take over, dry and smooth, with the tuberose kept creamy rather than shrill. By mid-morning the vanilla and benzoin have softened it into the “cashmere” Pugh describes, which reads as you having good taste in knitwear rather than you wearing perfume. Two sprays are plenty: one at the base of the throat, one on the inside of a wrist. Skip the hair, because a tuberose trail can build in a warm meeting room. Woody florals like this are some of the safest picks we know for open-plan offices, and our guide to perfumes that behave at the office explains why low-sillage woods outlast citrus by lunchtime.

Tuesday: rehearsal and read-through

Scent: a citrus-herb cologne (our pick, inspired by her mum’s focus spray). Tuesday is a working day that needs a clear head: a rehearsal, an exam, a long session of deep work. The only clue we have is that her mum’s blend uses citrus and herbs, so we chose in that direction rather than trying to copy it. A good model is Jo Malone London’s Lime Basil & Mandarin cologne, a British classic where sharp lime and green basil sit over a light woody base. Citrus top notes evaporate fast, which is the point: you get the lift when you need it and nothing lingers to distract anyone else in the room. Herbs like basil, thyme and rosemary add a savoury, slightly cool edge that many people find steadying. Wear three or four sprays and top up at lunch, since colognes are the lightest concentration on the shelf. For more options in this lane, look at citrus perfumes for her.

Wednesday: travel day

Scent: Chanel Coco eau de parfum (reported, from her Vogue bag). She reportedly carries it as a travel spray, so it gets the travel slot. There is good sense in that. Airports, trains and hotel rooms are dry, over-lit and smell of nothing in particular, and a rich amber floral gives you something warm to come back to. Coco’s spice and orange blossom sit over a base of patchouli, tonka and benzoin that lasts for hours, so a single morning application should get you through a long journey. Be considerate on a plane, though: this is a high-sillage classic, and one spray on the chest under a jumper is enough in a cramped cabin. Save the second spray for arrival. A purse spray also means you never have to put a full bottle through security. Our guide to travel-size perfumes covers refillable atomisers if you would rather decant your own bottle than buy a second one.

Thursday: playing a part

Scent: a soft period rose (our pick, inspired by her character method). Pugh picks a scent for each role, and her mum built Amy March a blend from materials of that era. Thursday borrows the method. Pick something you would not normally reach for and wear it to change how you carry yourself: a job interview, a first night at a new class, a party where you know nobody. Our suggestion is a powdery rose, because rose and violet were staples of 19th-century scent and they feel instantly old-fashioned in a good way. Penhaligon’s has several rose fragrances in this romantic British mould, though any soft rose with a little powder will do. The key is that it should feel slightly unlike your usual self. Apply it last, after you are dressed, the way she describes doing on set. Two sprays, kept close to the skin. Browse our rose fragrance guide to find one that suits your character.

Friday: dinner, candles, a booth at the back

Scent: Max Mara Le Parfum, worn heavier (her named date-night scent). Marie Claire asked Pugh for her date-night perfume and she named the Max Mara eau de parfum, so Friday returns to it, applied with more intent. Fragrances built on sandalwood, tuberose and vanilla behave very differently at close range in the evening than across a desk in the morning. Warm skin and candlelight help the tuberose bloom, and the vanilla reads as softer and more intimate rather than sweet. Go up to three or four sprays: throat, behind each ear, and one into the air to walk through so it settles on your clothes. A layer of unscented body lotion first helps a woody scent cling, since dry skin lets fragrance evaporate faster. If you want something in this mood without her bottle, our date-night perfume guide and our edit of vanilla perfumes both lean towards creamy, close-wearing warmth rather than candy.

Saturday: the park at four o’clock

Scent: a green fig scent (our pick, inspired by a comfort smell she named). Asked about the smells that comfort her, Pugh listed a few unexpected ones, including the park at around 4 p.m. We cannot bottle her memory, but we can aim for that late-afternoon green: warm grass, leaves, a bit of earth. Fig is the usual shortcut, because the leaf, the sap and the fruit together smell like sunny gardens. Diptyque’s Philosykos is the reference fig, green and milky and slightly woody, and it is light enough to wear on a Saturday spent outdoors with a coffee and a paper. Being an eau de toilette, it will need a top-up by teatime. Spray three times, on skin and on a cotton shirt, since natural fibres hold green notes surprisingly well. If fig is not your thing, any fresh, leafy scent with a soft woody base gives the same open-air mood. Most fresh, leafy scents with a soft woody base are also easy to share between partners.

Sunday: roast in the oven, nowhere to be

Scent: a skin musk, or nothing until the cooking is done (our pick). Another of Pugh’s comfort smells is garlic and onion cooking, which is a reminder that the best Sunday scent is sometimes the kitchen. Do not fight it with something loud. Spray a strong perfume while cooking and you get vanilla fighting gravy, so keep the morning bare. Once dinner is done and you are on the sofa, wear a quiet musk that smells like clean skin and a jumper, close kin to the “cashmere” effect she describes in Le Parfum. Glossier You is a widely available example of this type: a soft, warm skin scent you notice mostly when you turn your head. Musks like this are low sillage by design, so two sprays on the wrists and neck sit right for the sofa and nobody else in the house will mind. Our musk perfumes for women guide lists more in this soft style.

The packing list

Here is the week in one table, so the question of what perfume does Florence Pugh wear turns into a plan you can actually pack, with spray counts for a normal-sized room. Adjust down for small spaces and up for big outdoor days. “Her bottle” means it is documented; “our pick” means it is a similar-vibe suggestion we chose.

DayPerfumeConcentrationSprays to use
Monday (office)Max Mara Le Parfum (her bottle, paid campaign)Eau de parfum2
Tuesday (rehearsal)Jo Malone London Lime Basil & Mandarin (our pick)Cologne3–4, top up at lunch
Wednesday (travel)Chanel Coco (her bottle, reported)Eau de parfum1 on board, 1 on arrival

If the concentration column looks confusing, our explainer on eau de toilette vs eau de parfum shows why a cologne needs twice the sprays of an EDP to last half as long.

Why her taste works in British weather

Pugh is English, and whether or not she chose them for that reason, her scents suit the British climate. Heat makes perfume evaporate fast and project loudly; cold and damp slow everything down. On a grey ten-degree morning, a citrus top note can disappear before you reach the bus stop, while the base notes, the woods, resins and vanilla, are what actually stay with you. Both of her documented bottles are built from the bottom up. Le Parfum leans on sandalwood, cedar, vanilla and benzoin; Coco on patchouli, tonka and benzoin. Those materials are heavy, slow and warm, so they hold up in cold air where lighter scents fade, and they do not turn cloying in a heated pub the way sugary gourmands can. Our guide to winter perfumes is full of this structure.

Layering matters as much as the bottle. In a British winter, perfume competes with wool, waterproofs and scarves. Spray the skin before you dress, not on top of the coat, so the fabric traps a little warmth and releases the scent gradually as you move; spraying straight onto delicate wool or silk can stain. Le Parfum’s whole idea, a scent worn like an invisible coat, fits this approach: it is designed to sit under your clothes. On cold days you can afford a slightly bolder dose, because cold air reduces projection. That difference between how far a scent travels and how long its trail lingers is covered in our sillage vs projection guide.

Damp weather is gentler on perfume than people expect. Humidity helps scent carry, which is why a garden smells stronger after rain, and that suits a green fig or a herbal cologne on a mild spring day. For staying power on a long, cold day, moisturise first and apply to pulse points that stay covered; a fragrance that smells good at ten degrees will usually still be there at six o’clock.

Wrapping a week in a box

Whatever the answer to what perfume does Florence Pugh wear turns out to be next year, for a fan the most personal gift is not her campaign bottle but the idea behind it: a small set of scents for different moods. Pair one warm woody eau de parfum with one bright citrus or herbal spray and you have covered her two documented sides, the cashmere evening and the clear-headed working day. Travel sizes make it affordable and let the person test each scent before committing to a full bottle, and a handwritten note naming which day each one is for turns a set of samples into something thoughtful. What perfume does Florence Pugh wear? Your remaining questions

What is Florence Pugh’s signature scent?

The closest thing to a signature is Max Mara Le Parfum, which she fronts and calls part of her identity. Remember that she is paid to promote it. Before that, the only reported personal bottle was a travel Chanel Coco shown in a 2024 Vogue video, along with a homemade citrus-and-herb spray blended by her mother.

Is Florence Pugh the face of a perfume?

Yes. She is the face of Max Mara Le Parfum, the brand’s first fragrance, made with Shiseido and launched in late August 2026. Her role was reported in June 2026. Her Valentino roles, which began in 2023, covered fashion and beauty; we found no Valentino fragrance campaign featuring her.

What does Max Mara Le Parfum smell like?

It is a woody floral eau de parfum. A brief lemon opening gives way to creamy tuberose over sandalwood and cedarwood, finished with vanilla and benzoin. Pugh says it smells like cashmere, and the brand pitches it as a skin scent rather than a sweet gourmand. It wears warm and close, which makes it easy for both day and evening.

Does Florence Pugh wear Chanel Coco or Coco Mademoiselle?

Reports of her 2024 British Vogue bag video say she called it her “travel Coco” and do not mention Mademoiselle. Chanel makes purse sprays of both, so it cannot be confirmed from the report alone. Coco is a spicy amber floral from 1984; Coco Mademoiselle is brighter, with a fresher patchouli character. Try both before buying.

Why does Florence Pugh wear different perfumes for her roles?

She says she chooses a perfume for each character and applies it last, after the costume, as the finishing touch that helps her become that person. For Amy March in Little Women, her mother created a bespoke scent based on materials from the period. No specific commercial perfumes for her roles have been named.

What is a good gift for someone who likes Florence Pugh’s style?

A warm woody eau de parfum with tuberose or vanilla is the most faithful choice, since it matches her Max Mara scent. For a smaller budget, pair a creamy skin musk with a fresh citrus-herb cologne in travel sizes. That combination reflects both her campaign scent and the bright, practical spray her mum makes for her.
